This is impossible for Yahoo people to answer. First of all “health insurance does not equal health insurance”. What does that mean? It means that you get what you pay for. This means you get lower co-pays and lower deductibles when your insurance premiums are higher. The opposite is also true. Also, you need to look at the physician network and hospitals attached to each insurance to see if the doctors and hospitals you prefer are in the network.

What I’m trying to say is that not all insurance is the same. Here are two examples:

Insurance 1: Premiums for husband and wife are $ 250/month
Deductible: $ 1,000 Office visit: $ 30 Specialist visit: $ 50 ER: $ 75 Prescription: $ 25 Hospital visit/Day: $ 225. The dollar amounts would equal your cost for coverage after the monthly premium.

Insurance 2: Premiums for husband and wife are $ 375/month
Deductible: $ 250 Office visit: $ 15 Specialist visit: $ 25 ER: $ 35 Prescription: $ 10 Hospital visit/Day: $ 120. The dollar amounts would equal your cost for coverage after the monthly premium.

So, which of the two is better. It depends on you. If you are a healthy family, you’d want the lesser of the premiums because you don’t need that much health care. If your family visits the doctor often, you’d want the one that pays more after your lower deductible.

The problem with health insurance today is that too many people don’t know what they are buying. The go for the coverage with the less cost, then complain because their co-payments are too high..

Whatever you do, good luck to you.
